There is no short cut to getting really fit for running - it takes time and the absolute key is learning how to spend time on your feet.

Traditionally with British running the “long” run was done on a Sunday morning because of obvious social reasons. Now many people have far greater flexibility but the need for the long base run continues. It is absolutely key in developing good running fitness.

Long is of course a relative term! Initially it might be just 15min which you progress patiently to 30min then 45 and hopefully up to 1 hour or even longer given time.

It often helps to find a running partner (why not join a club or start your own running network)

It all helps to wile away the miles and makes your running so much more enjoyable! But what ever you do ensure you put the miles in.
