Q and A with Phil

What is your favourite pre-race meal?
Night before- pasta, salad…Race day- secret weapon- Jammy dodgers!!!

What is your favourite post-race treat?
Jelly Babies and a nice curry with mates

What is your favourite memory from competition?
I have a few good memories from races, but the ones that stand out are winning the AAA under 23 5000m and getting grabbed by my dad just after crossing the line who was in tears- he pulled me over the railings on the outside of the track! The second memory I have would be from the World Cross country in Kenya We arrived at the course and there thousands of people lining the hills, the roads and the banks around the course- ive never seen so many people at a race, they were chanting, singing. We walked across the course as a team, and every one of us was truly overwhelmed by what we could see, people as far as they eye could see, there to watch a cross country race- it was amazing.

What do you see as your top 3 notable achievements?
1 AAA 10,000m Champion 2007
2 World Champs Cross country representative 2007 (Mombasa, Kenya), 2009 (Amman, Jordan)
3 AAA Under-23 5000m Champion

What ASICS shoes do you run in?

For training, the GEL-DS-TRAINER and the GEL-DS RACER for races.

Phil says:

"You can't control the winds, the race is won by your ability to adjust your sails."
