Floris on himself

I have two very clear match memories. One is of the Olympic semi-final in Athens, when we beat Germany and were therefore assured of the silver medal. Nor will I ever forget my first game in a full Wagener stadium. We were playing for the national team in the opening game of the Champions Trophy against India in 2003 and India took a 3-0 lead. We went on to win the game 4-3 and I scored a goal. Wonderful! I have now experienced a great deal in my hockey career, but those are my finest memories!

Away from hockey I am a fan of the footballer Ronaldinho. This Brazilian exudes so much pleasure, I find it infectious.

Opinions are divided about my taste in music. Not everyone appreciates my choice. The neighbours sometimes complain that my Dutch-language singalongs drive them mad, ha ha.

When I have a weekend off, I most like to spend time on the Amsterdam canals. Messing around in a boat.
