The England Under-19 and Kent batsman has long since been in a position to become an influential player, having played for Kent since his very early years and representing England from the Under 17 level.
Joe went on to further prove himself a valuable team asset since he toured India in 2005, where he made a half-century and achieved a top score in the third Test with 81. With his consistent performance Joe made his international debut Ireland in Belfast and also faced Australia in the final match of the 2009 NatWest Series.
